If you think that laser hair removal is a treatment reserved for women think again. We’re seeing a huge increase in the number of men getting treatment.

Nearly all of our mens laser hair removal treatments are for back, chest and adomen hair, but what may surprise you is it’s not just for the men who look like they could appear on the front of Men’s Health, it for men with normal bodies.

What’s great about treating hairy men is we often find it was hairyness that was stopping them taking their top off in the summer not their lack of a six pack. Personally I think there’s nothing wrong with hair on a man, but if it is an issue, solving the problem can give a huge confidence boost.

If you’re a man who wants to find out more about laser hair removal come and talk to us for free. If you’re a suitable candidate we can do a patch test and plan treatments from there.

When you come for a treatment we’ll start by shaving the area we’re treating before starting the laser treatment. Every 5 weeks you will need another treatment. This will continue until we’ve managed to laser all of your hairs whilst they are in a growth cycle. Normally we find 8 – 10 treatments gets the superb results you’re going to be looking for.

I was in a tube station in London and read an ad for a laser hair removal clinic that claimed that you shave your legs 11,540 times in a life time. I don’t know about you but I think it takes at least 2 minutes to shave your legs. That means from the time we become aware that hairy legs may not be that attractive to the age when we’re too old to be bothered to be attractive, we spend about 384 hours shaving our legs. On a 12 hour waking day this is 32 days of shaving.

So here’s my BIG thought for the day. If you had a month to do anything you like, how would you spend it. On the beach, with your family, reading book after book, learning a language. The list is endless and I would like to read about how you would spend the perfect month away from the normal daily routines.

After 13 years of buiding the clinic I often feel like I could do with a month off. Here’s my perfect four weeks:

Week 1 – Stay home, read, sleep, eat, watch a few of my favourite programs on TV
Week 2 – Add walking to the agenda as I have more engergy
Week 3 – Add a short flight to somewhere like Portugal and do more of the same
Week 4 – Relaxed, full of energy, catch up with friends, perhaps even throw a party
Ahhh. Nice thought. Lasering legs will never be the same.

I am now in my 40′s and every day I find myself looking in the mirror and discovering an additional line, age spot or blemish.

At some point I am going to need to stop trying to cheat old age and embrace the fact that it’s OK to look older and actually you can be old and beautiful. But is that time now?

At the clinic I can have botox anytime I like. And believe me I have had more than my share over the years to my mirrors delight. But the battle is getting harder to win.

Take my grey hair. I used to be able to go weeks between hair dye’s. Now it feels like days. So when is it OK to say enough is enough and embrace the fact that I can’t look 30 again?

Here’s my biggest barrier to old age acceptance. My husband. He doesn’t have a grey hair on his head, and when he does he’s just going to look distinguished. It’s really just not fair.

Please god, one day soon I will be grey, wrinkled and hopefully happy. However today is not that day. Sorry.

As someone who has watched a loved one suffer at the hands of migraines, I found the news that the freezing effects of the botulinum toxin has provided relief for some sufferers. We do a number of botox treatments at the clinic but would not have connected a treatment that helps you look younger and smoother with severe headache relief. We’ll be watching this space with great interest.

Statistics reported on the websites of cosmetic surgery associations are claiming that the use of injectable treatments like botox and fillers plus non-invasive treatments like laser are on the increase.

At the clinic we have certainly seen an increasing trend to opt for treatments like botox and scuptra as a way of helping women look younger, even in the throws of recession. Given the results, speed of visual improvement and relative cost effectiveness, it’s not that surprising that going under the knife is being seen more of as last resort.
