Corns are thickened areas of skin where it's been subjected to pressure or friction over a sustained period of time. If you ask anyone who has suffered from a corn, they'll tell you how painful they can be, and is the reason why podiatrists at our clinic treat so many.
There are two main types of corn:
Hard Corns - These usually develop underneath your feet or on the tops of your toes
Soft Corns - These usually occur between your toes and are sometimes called 'kissing corns' because they appear where toes touch
Common root causes of corns include poor fitting footwear and poor structural foot function.
corns treatments
We treat corns by carefully removing the dead skin and nucleus of the corn with a scalpel. This is a skilled procedure and should not be done at home. Once the painful corn has been treated a further discussion on how best to address the underlying issues can be had with your podiatrist.
